Delegation of the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority of Albania (AKEP), with its Chairman, Mr Piro Xhixho, paid a visit in Poland at the invitation of the President of the Office of Electronic Communications.
During the visit on 23 September 2015 the Memorandum of Understanding in
the field of Electronic Communications and Post between the regulators
of electronic communications markets in Poland and Albania was signed.
The aim of the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Electronic Communications and Post between the President of the Office of Electronic Communications of the Republic of Poland and the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority of the Republic of Albania is the development of cooperation in the scope of electronic communications and postal regulation. The President of UKE, Magdalena Gaj and the Chairman of AKEP, Piro Xhixho declared their willingness to support and implement joint initiatives, as well as exchange information, experiences and experts between the national regulatory authorities of Poland and Albania.
In addition, both Parties discussed current situations on the telecommunications markets of Poland and Albania, and indicated possible areas for development of further cooperation in the coming years. These areas include: improvement of the quality of telecommunications services, consumer protection, development of telecommunications infrastructure and stimulating growth of investment in this infrastructure.
The details concerning the development of bilateral cooperation between UKE and AKEP will be agreed in the near future.
