Registration of prepaid cards - pay ATTENTION to personal data

Name, surname, PESEL number or the type, series and number of the document confirming identity - only such data may be obtained by the party registering our prepaid card.

 

When registering a prepaid card we are obliged to provide the operator with the following personal data:
•     name and surname,
•     PESEL number if we have one, or
•     the type, series and number of the document confirming identity. In the case of foreigners it shall be the number of passport or residence card.
Telecommunications undertakings should not obtain any copies of documents confirming identity for the purpose of card registration. It is clearly stated in the law1. Operator may only determine the manner of providing data.

A photocopy or a scan of a document confirming identity obtained in the registration process may lead to abuses.  

The Office of Electronic Communications and the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection have been receiving signals about inconsistencies connected with unauthorised data collection.

Therefore, we should be cautious and do not give our consent to such activities.
