Eurotariff - subsequent reductions

2008-09-01

New tariffs for roaming calls have been in place since 30 August 2008. Under the Regulation (EC) No 717/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 June 2007 on roaming on public mobile telephone networks within the Community and amending Directive 2002/21/EC, retail charges for calls made and calls received are gradually reduced by specifying their maximum level.

On 30 August 2007 retail tariffs were reduced for the first time to the level of 0.49 EUR per minute (excluding VAT) for any call made and to 0.24 EUR per minute (excluding VAT) for any call received.

Starting from 30 August 2008 the maximum per minute charge for any call made may not exceed 0.46 EUR (excluding VAT) and the maximum per minute charge for any call received may not exceed 0.22 EUR (excluding VAT). When converting the limits expressed in EURO into the Polish currency the reference exchange rate published by the European Central Bank in the Official Journal of the European Union shall be applied. According to the rate of 30 June 2008, 1 EUR equals 3,2067 PLN.

Hence, starting from 30 August 2008:

  • per minute charge for any call made may not exceed net PLN 1.48 (gross PLN 1.81),
  • per minute charge for any call received may not exceed net PLN 0.71 (gross PLN 0.87).

The new per minute charge for calls made will be lower compared to the current one (PLN 2.20) by 17.73% and the per minute charge for calls received by 20.91% compared to the current rate (PLN 1.10).

The Eurotariff and its rates are not linked to any subscription or other permanent or periodic charges and may be combined with any retail tariff. The maximum charges for calls under the Eurotariff guarantee that roaming subscribers within the Community do not face excessive charges for making or receiving roaming calls.
