The main aim of the cooperation agreement concluded between the Office of Telecommunications and Post Regulation and the Federation of Consumers is to provide the effective and efficient consumer protection.
On April 16, 2004 Małgorzata Niepokulczycka - the President of the National Council of the Federation of Consumers and Mr. Witold Graboś – the President of the Office of Telecommunications and Post Regulation concluded a cooperation agreement. The subject of the agreement is taking up and developing mutual cooperation in solving current problems resulting from the fulfilment of statutory duties by both institutions.
The areas of common action cover the implementation of provisions of three legal acts: the Telecommunications Law, the Postal Law and the Act on competition and consumer protection. Under the agreement, representatives of both institutions will contact each other for particular thematic issues and will determine priorities of mutual cooperation over the subsequent years.
The President of URTiP and the President of the Federation of Consumers declared their readiness to make all necessary data mutually available, cooperate in drafting legal acts and standards concerning consumer interests. The agreement also provides for the possibility of taking up joint research and market analysis.
In the context of the EU law (the package of 2002 directives on electronic communications) the above-mentioned agreement is an important instrument enabling the President of URTiP to carry out consultations with the representatives of telecommunications and postal services consumers.
